Around the world, with the pandemic and lockdown, homes that had previously been functional were looked at with new eyes. Our homes, our safe environment needed to also inspire feelings of fun, warmth, beauty and more.

Many people’s homes will emerge from the pandemic transformed. Wether it's a move to the country, as we realize we need more space, more green & that working from distance is now the new norm. Or a transformation/decoration of the interior, our home is in the spotlight. Covid -19 is changing the way we live and the way we want to live.

And so the transformation for some homes has begun in ways that uplift our spirits.
As we spend more time at home, perhaps spending less on commuting, travel, entertainment, we can re-invest into our home. Whatever the budget, there are small changes we can make - a beautiful scented candle, a new throw for the sofa, or creating space for a home office.

Some will say that it is no longer possible to live as before and will want to keep the changes, maybe by consuming more locally, by traveling less far, and by making home their haven. Lockdown for some, may be experienced as a period of rest, where we will stop running, and embrace this new way of living. The things we thought to be important will loose their relevance as we enjoy slowing down, simplifying and directing energy into creating our haven. We will come out of confinement a little better, because we will have nurtured our habitat a little more.

Here are some brands I have cherry picked that fit into this new way of living.

https://www.petitpan.com

Based in Paris since 2002, Petitpan have been inventing a magical world bubbling with colour. Their signature style inspired by Chinese fabrics and designs, is applied to all everyday objects: bedding, bags, childrens clothing & decoration & lanterns. In this particular time we all need a little magic and colour. Their lanterns are sublime. From Myriam De Loor 's (founder) drawings, her son's grandfather - Pan Bohua, a great master of the Chinese kite is the one who develops the prototypes for the lanterns and mobiles. Therefore, Petit pan keep the beauty and savoir faire of traditional craftsmanship alive and provide high quality products that create magic and wonder in our homes.

The story behind this beautiful French fragrance and candle house, began in 1961 in St Germain des près as a beautiful ‘bazaar’ for treasured objects & fabrics that then began production on their now- iconic candles 2 years later. Diptyque became synonymous with style and are scenting homes worldwide. Handmade Diptyque candles are famous for their range of exquisite scents & using natural fragrances. We underestimate the power of scent in the home, but by using Diptyque candles we can set the mood - invigorating, calming....the choice is yours.
